REPUBLIC DAY

Republic day was celebrated with great patriotic fervor on 26th January 2015. The day began with flag hoisting by Principal madam Mrs. Sandhya Menezes and national anthem was sung. Principal madam addressed the gathering quoting, Republic day is associated with courage and let us all associate ourselves with encouragement to our students and fellow beings. Breakfast was served to staff and students.









FAREWELL DAY

"Man's feelings are always purest and most glowing in the hour of meeting and of farewell"
Farewell for II PUC was organized on 31st January 2015. The students of I PUC and teachers were present to bid adieu to the students of II PUC. Students of II PUC splendidly attired, were feast to the eyes.
The day began with the invocation song followed by traditional lighting of auspicious lamp. The office of student council for the year 2014-15 was closed. The members of student council handed over their sashes to the Principal madam.
Principal madam addressed the gathering, mentioning that she had wonderful time with the outgoing batch. Student advisor Mrs. Anitha T.P. also presented her experiences working with student council members.
Administrator sir Mr. Roshan Menezes lent the occasion, the exquisite warmth with his gracious presence. In his motivational speech, he encouraged the students to achieve success in their forthcoming journey outside Carmel. Students also shared their experiences in their journey at Carmel college. Sumptuous lunch was served to students and teachers. The day marked a remarkable memory for the outgoing batch.











ALUMNI MEET

The alumni Re-union of students from previous batch came together on February 1st 2015. The day began with Anjana Joshi of 2013-14 batch welcoming gathering. Kishan invoked the blessings of God through his wonderful voice. Our administrator sir Mr. Roshan Menezes created an opportunity as ice breaker for the students of various batches to get familiar with each other. Alumni members formed council with Mr. Deepak as President, Mr. Ravindra as Vice President and Mr. Sharad Shyam as Secretary. Students from each batch voluntarily joined the council as members. The elected students promised the management and members that they would take forward the council in the ut most progressive way for the betterment of the institution. Evening was made more interesting with games conducted by sir. It ended with refreshment and students promising to meet again.




ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATION

Thirteenth Annual day was celebrated with delight and zest. 10th January, being a wonderful day in itself was our annual day celebration, founder’s day celebration and Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary celebration.
Chief  guest for our annual day celebration was Mr. Shashidhar Kote, a renowned singer, small screen artist, a multi talented personality. The other dignitaries embracing the occasion were administrator sir Mr. Roshan Menezes, Mrs. Dorothy Menezes academic director Carmel Education Society,
Mrs. Shashikala Adappa, member Carmel Education Society, Mrs. Savitha  co ordinator PESSAT, Mrs Sandhya Menezes Principal Carmel college and Prateek Vamja, President Student council.
The day began with an invocation dance by Meghana and group. This was followed by tribute to founder Mr. Alexander Menezes Carmel Education Society and Swami Vivekananda.
Annual report of the academic year 2014-15 was presented by Principal Madam. Prateek Vamja President, Student council presented student council report.
The most amazing moment was the address by the chief guest. The chief guest Mr. Shashidhar Kote peformed music and also addressed the gathering with an insightful message.
Prize distribution ceremony was just feast to eyes. Prizes were given covering areas of academics, sports and extra- curricular activities.  Prateek Vamja was awarded best out going boy and Amulya Muralidhar was awarded best out going girl.
Mrs.  Savitha coordinator PESSAT awarded scholarship to students towards their commitment to science. The students awarded were Adithya C. from II PUC and Ana Priscilla from I PUC. Formal part of program ended with the speech by administrator sir Mr. Roshan Menezes.
Entertainment part just enthralled the audience. Contemporary dance performance was amazing. The fashion show showcased the aesthetics in clothing. Rock band performance was just thrilling. It was stylistic and rhythmic.













CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

As part of Christmas celebration, on 13th December 2014 community service volunteers visited Boscomane, an orphanage for boys. Our volunteers served food to the children and also organized many games. Winners received prize from Santa Claus where one of the volunteer wore Santa costume. It was just a delightful moment.
Christmas was celebrated in the campus on 22nd December 2014. The management hosted the feast. It was a funfilled afternoon for both teaching and non teaching staff.




THE ALEXANDER MEMORIAL TROPHY

Cricket is one of the most popular and the most loved event in India. Cricket has been played in our college from years in the memory of late Alexander sir who did not only laid foundation of the college but gave way to fresh talent in the field of sports.
On the 13th of December the pitch was made ready for the battle between the teams of first and second year who were present with the passion of wining this ultimate event.
Our Administrator Mr. Roshan Menezes and our principal Mrs. Sandhya Menezes made their presence felt by giving motivational talk to our fellow participants, and mentally prepared them for the match. The matches were started by an invocation song by students of 2nd year.
The students were prepared to bag the Alexander Memorial trophy as this year was filled with exiting events as such. Carmel is proud to have IIC as the winners of this year and followed by IID as runners.
There were many categories of awards. The best Fielder award was taken by Praveen Kumar of IIA, this was followed by the best bowler award by Abhay Patel of IIC. The Batsmen is said to be the hero of the match.This award was won by Arjun N of IID. Mithun of IIC won the Man of the Match and the man of the series was bagged by Sathyaraj Joshi V of IIC





CARMEL CLEANLINESS CAMPAIGN

Carmel Cleanliness Campaign was organized by Carmel Eco Club , Carmel Community Service and Global Citizens Club of Carmel Education Society on 21/11/2014 . The event started with an invocation by Madhura and Mandhara of II PUC ‘A ‘ section . Welcoming the gathering was done by Mr.Mahesh Bhat of Carmel High School.
The chief guest of the day was Mr. Padmaraj, BBMP Corporator, Basaveshwaranagar. He advised the people and gathering to maintain a cleanliness – awareness throughout the year and speech by the corporator was motivational to the whole gathering. Eco – tree director Mr.Ishkumar spoke about the importance of cleanliness and also made an oath from the students. The song by the children revolved round the mother nature, maintenance of cleanliness and peace . Mr. Roshan Menezes, administrator of Carmel education Society spoke to students and also thanked all the dignitaries.
Mrs. Sandhya Menezes , Principal of Carmel PU College conducted oath taking ceremony . Later students were directed by the in charge teachers to different parts of school and college surroundings and cleaned the places along with Mr. Padmaraj, Eco-Tree director, administrator and Principal. After the cleaning process, the students were given refreshments.
This cleaning campaign was just a beginning to the on – going process by the Carmel community service and Eco club students monitored by the lecturers once a week throughout the academic year.













ETHNIC DAY 2014

Ethnic day was celebrated on 1st December 2014 in Carmel which is a colorful and cheerful day . On Ethnic day interested Carmelites take the ramp with their best ethnic costume. It is our administrator Mr. Roshan Menezes’s birthday too, so its day of double celebration.
The judges along with administrator Mr.Roshan Menezes was Mr. Jonathan Smith, a multitalented personality , a voice over artist, theatre personality and owns a Mgt firm. The other glamorous judge was Mrs.Maria Ashitha Crasta a winner of many beauty pageants.
Carmelites put in their best effort to score brownie points from the judges. Out of 50 contestants from each of the boys and girls, the highly talented in questionnaire round and talent round, the best of the lot was crowned Miss Carmel and Mr.Carmel.
Miss Carmel of 2014 is Miss Sadaf Mehak of I 'D' and Mr. Carmel of 2014 is Mr.Adithya N Rao of II 'C'. Out of the other contestants, Best Personality,Best Costume, Best Walk and Crowning Glory were crowned.
On the whole Ethnic Day left the Carmel participants with winners and the experienced . It was greatly enjoyed by the Carmelites in the true sense.












TEEN'S DAY

Teen's day was celebrated with great energy and zeal on 14th November 2014.
Teachers were the ones to call the tune in assembly on that day. The day began with the hymn. Ethereal Songs were sung, thoughts were read.
This was followed by street play enacted by volunteers of Samadhana an NGO which works for prevention of suicide attempt.
Several events were organized by the staff members for the children. The first and most exciting event planned was "Boogie Woogie". Groups were planned and made to dance instantly for the fusion. This event enthralled the audience and the students enjoyed watching their friends dance for the fusion music.
This was followed by "Back the balloon", "Musical hoopla" and "Dodge ball". Questionnaire for students which was the part of teen's day events was going on concurrently.
Thus students adored every moment on Teen's day.








SPORTS DAY

Sports day in Carmel PU College is a day, eagerly awaited by all the enthusiasts as we have a wide range of sports, encouraging athletes with various events like running, relay, shot put, Javelin throw, high jump, long jump, discus throw and many more such events.
Chief guest for sports day was Mrs. G M Nischitha, a national level badminton player. Her motivating talk prepared the students for the big day. Her simple and systematic mantra of 3D's caught the attention of all the students. 3D's are Dedication, Desire and Discipline .
Our administrator Mr. Roshan Menezes showed his constant support by gracing the occasion. Our Principal Mrs. Sandhya Menezes was there to cheer  for all the participants. The staff of Carmel  showed their solidarity for the success of the sports day.
Class “ II B “ bagged the overall championship and all the sports winners were awarded. Our administrator Roshan Menezes added glamour quotient to the sports day by conducting a relay run for the staff of Carmel PU College. On the whole sports day turned out to be a grand success day.







KARNATAKA RAJYOTHSAVA


Kannada Rajyothsava was celebrated with great dynamism at our college.
The day began with the auspicious lighting of lamp by Principal. This was in accompaniment with singing of Hachchevu Kannadada Deepa by students. State anthem was also sung. Mrs Asha of Computer Science department talked about Karnataka highlighting its rich culture and personalities.
Mrs. Suma of Electronics department had organized quiz for the audience which was enlightening and enjoyable. The celebration ended with distribution of sweets.




Talk by Inspector of Police on 'Crime and its effects'


Police Talk was organized as part of intra club activity on 22nd September 2014. The chief guest invited was Mr. Poornachandra Tejaswi, Police Inespector Basaveshwarnagar police station. Mr. Poornachandra Tejaswi is a MSC graduate, with fifteen years of service and has got many rewards in his career. He was also recommended for Chief Minister Award last year.
Inspector rightly began his talk advising students, if put to any instigating circumstances try controlling your anger. That moment you may feel as a looser but you are actually a real winner, preventing crime.
The inspector also spoke about ragging and asked the students to maintain healthy atmosphere in the campus. Stressing about girl child abuse he talked about good touch and bad touch and gave hints how to handle critical situation. He also talked about cyber crime and suggested to avoid misuse of social media. He also advised students not to ride vehicles till they go eighteen and only after getting driving license.
Questionnaire was also organized when he talked about handling blank calls. He also talked about drug addiction.
He also clarified what actually is FIR. He also explained about police verification during passport approval.
Thus it was an interactive session.



WALKATHON


Samadhan Center for counseling and Life skills organized a walkathon on 7th September 2014 as part of its two month suicide prevention campaign during August and September. Community service center volunteers of our college participated in our walkathon and raised awareness on the need to prevent suicide. Walkathon started from KLE PU college. Preceding the start of walkathon there was a street play by Samadhan volunteers which was very effective in bringing awareness to students. Breakfast was served after the event.




Table Tennis Tournament


Department of Pre University Education, Bangalore North conducted district level Table Tennis tournament on 26th August 2014 at Carmel PU College . Tournament was inaugurated by Sri Roshan Menezes and Mrs. Sandhya Menezes. About 16 boys teams and 8 girls teams participated in the tournament.

TEACHERS DAY


Teachers day was celebrated in much revery at Carmel PU College. Student council had organized many events for teachers. The day was just dedicated to teachers.
Unique talent, musical chair, lemon race and quiz were the events organized for teachers. Unique talent saw array of performances by teachers. Savitha, lecturer Chemistry department enthralled the audience by her dance performance.
The occasion was just a sincere appreciation and gratitude from students.






RENDEZVOUS 2014


RENDEZVOUS 2014, an intercollegiate string of competitions saw the participation from over 30 plus colleges all over Bangalore. The chief guest for the mega event was Mr. Suresh Peter, a music director and a composer who added fuel to the event. The events organised for this year’s extravaganza included literary events like Debate, Spell Bee, Make Your Dictionary and also some cultural events like Fashion Highway, Bollywood Dance and many more. The Bollywood Dance, Fashion Highway and Mad ads were a major hit.
Our campus was buzzing with events on 25th August wherein the students experienced all the chills and thrills. After the energetic evening , everybody were awaiting for the announcement of the overall championship winners. The winners were Vidyamandir PU College.
This was RENDEZVOUS 2014. We caught all the scope and excitement on this dynamic extravaganza.








INDEPENDENCE DAY


Independence day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic vehemence.
The celebration began with the unfurling of tri color by the chief guest, Mr. Sameer Kumar Baig and singing of National Anthem. This was followed with parade by the students. The celebration was welcomed by Mrs. Anitha T.P. lecturer Biology department. Mrs. Anitha T.P. also gave brief introduction of chief guest and invited him to address the students.
Sameer Kumar Baig, alumni of Carmel High School has served as a traffic warden. He gave an impressive talk and asked the students to vow not to ride vehicles till they go 18 years of age. National song was sung by choir group. Students and teachers had adorned their clothing with tri colors. Sweets were distributed to students. Great tasting breakfast was allured for the staff by the management.






BLOOD DONATION CAMP


Community Service Center and the student council conducted the Blood Donation Camp on 9th of August 2014 in association with Lion's Club Bangalore. The programme was inaugurated by Administrator Sir Mr. Roshan Menezes and the gathering was welcomed by Principal madam Mrs. Sandhya Menezes. Community Service Students participated actively in the blood donation camp. Refreshements and lunch was served to the donors.
Camp was a huge success as it had a large number of donors.




STAFF ORIENTATION


Department of PU Education Bangalore North, Carmel Pre-University College and V.V.S. Patel college had organized Staff Orientation Programme for the subjects Computer Science, Electronics, Political Science and Sociology. The orientation saw a huge crowd of lecturers from all over Bangalore.






FEAST OF LADY MOUNT CARMEL


A month after the beginning of a new academic year, Carmel staff look forward to the reunion of a big happy Carmel family.
Feast of Mount Carmel was celebrated on 16th July 2014. Every year this feast brings Carmel school staff and Carmel college staff together with loads of celebration along with hope in our hearts, prayers in our mind, and soulful songs on our lips.
This year's feast was all the more special with Rev. Father Dolphy Pais presence. His short stories and anecdotes left us spellbound with lingering thoughts.
His talk was soul soothing and motivating to remind us as the messengers of good to our dear students. Carmel PU College released the Carmel Annual Magazine during the celebration of feast by Rev. Father Dolphy Pais in the presence of our esteemed dignatories of Carmel institution.
This year's Carmel Annual Magazine is the product of 'PRIDE' with the tireless efforts of students and staff. It is a culmination of hard work, dedication and determination of the magazine committee.
Carmel Annual Magazine has come out beautiful filled with our students drawings, paintings, group photos, short stories, jokes, facts and puzzles.
Carmel feast came to an end with the grand finale of all the staff reuniting and socialising with peels of laughter along with a sumptuous breakfast. It was a day to remember for a long time.







MALHAR


Malhar "Shower Of Talents 2014" an intra-collegiate event was celebrated on 12th July, 2014.

The chief guest for the event was an alumni Namratha, Cine and TV artist. The other dignatories who embraced the occasion were Administrator Mr. Roshan Menezes, Principal Mrs. Sandhya Menezes and Academic coordinator Carmel High School Mrs. Dorothy Menezes.

The day commenced on an auspicious note with an invocation song and lighting of the lamp by the dignatories on the dias. This was followed by welcome address by Prateek Vamja, President of Student Council. The chief guest addressing the gathering rained down the compliments to the Carmel Education Society.

MALHAR is an old raga in Indian classical music associated with monsoon rains.















At Carmel, MALHAR is an occasion provided to explore and nurture talents and exhibit inherent creativity. Carmel truly enhances students’ personality by endorsing both curricular and extra-curricular activities. Academic excellence and co-curricular activities always go hand in hand at Carmel.

On Malhar rhythm, Carmelites were put into gala attire for a week. Student Council had planned Pullovers for Monday, Rajdhani Express north Indian attire for Tuesday, Go checkers for Wednesday, Chennai Express south Indian attire for Thursday and Go Green for Friday.

On the day of extravaganza "MALHAR" I PUC were in red coloured attire and II PUC in blue coloured attire, ready to combat with each other for the trophy.

MALHAR is a culmination of many events literary, cultural and aesthetic. Innumerable opportunities were provided to students to develop their potential, hone their skills and even discover them. Exciting events were organised under the guidance of teachers and also with assistance of passionate and sincere students.

Pick and speak, Chitra prabandha, News reading, Brain storming were a few literary events.

A few to name among aesthetic events were Jewellery making, Mehendi design, Best out of waste, Face painting and many more.

Duet dance, Mad Ads, Unique talent, Battle of bands and many more to name in cultural events.

MALHAR was indeed the height of excitement for both I PUC and II PUC.



Personality Development



On 11th July 2014 college had arranged for talk on Gender interaction- effect of psychology culture for I PUC and II PUC students. The speaker spoke about gender bifurcation from the childhood, way to handle teenage problems , how to safeguard themselves when they are alone in difficult situations. The key speaker was Mrs Radha Siddhanthi of Enfold India. Enfold India is a proactive health trust an NGO.



Investiture Ceremony


Carmel college held investiture ceremony on 26th June, 2014 with great enthusiasm. The investiture ceremony marked a significant beginning for the new student council.

Administrator Mr. Roshan Menezes, Principal Mrs. Sandhya Menezes , Mrs. Dorothy Menezes Academics Director Carmel High School and distinguished Chief Guest Dr. M.C. Prakash Associate Professor Department of English V.V.S. First Grade College for women were the dignitaries on the dias.

The program began with an invocation dance by Vaibhavi. This was followed by welcome address by Principal.













Administrator Mr. Roshan Menezes encouraging the student council members to be committed invited them to take an oath of office. Student advisor Mrs. Anitha T.P. along with chief guest inducted the newly elected members of student council with sashes and badges.

Prateek Vamja is elected as President, Aishwarya R. as Vice President and Amulya Muralidhar as Secretary of student council. Vidya Reddy and Nikhil Gowda are elected as Sports Secretaries. Shreeja and Aditya Kumar are elected as cultural secretaries. The student council also includes the class representatives of all the sections.

The chief guest Dr. M.C. Prakash addressed the gathering and narrated many inspiring and motivating stories.

I PUC AND II PUC toppers were presented accolades on the occasion.



Parents Orientation


Parent orientation program was conducted on 22nd June 2014 .

Administrator , Carmel Education Society Mr. Roshan Menezes took privilege to welcome the parents and introduced himself. This was followed by self introduction by staff members. Mentors of different sections were also introduced to the parents.

Mr. Roshan Menezes clearly explained the rules and regulations of college and handed over the stage to Mr. Ashwath Ramaiah counselor, Unique Consultants Bangalore.

Orientation program was specifically designed to address parents concerns and how to productively help their children.







Staff Orientation


Orientation and training programs are important components in the processes of developing a committed environment.

Staff Orientation program was conducted by Dr, Ali Khwaja, Director of Banjara Academy on 7th June 2014. As month of June is the beginning of academic year, Dr. Ali Khwaja explained how to shoulder the responsibility of handling students who are stepping into college life.

Strategies explained were how to ease the transition from school to college life. The session explained how to motivate the students, by relating the subjects they study to real time world and also how to empower them by transmitting knowledge and developing understanding that gain the students an ability to make decisions and implement change in their own life.

It was an interactive, thought provoking fun session and motivated Carmel Staff to become amazing Mentors to bring out the best in each of the Carmel Students.





Students Orientation


Student orientation was held on June 7th, 2014 to orient and welcome I PUC students.
Administrator, Carmel Education Society Mr. Roshan Menezes introduced himself to the students. This was followed by self introduction of staff members.
Mr. Roshan Menezes clearly explained the rules and regulations of college to the students.
At Carmel orientations are handled by counselling experts and this time it was Mrs. Suhasini Rao.
Counselling is very important in shaping students behaviour and performance. Mrs. Suhasini Rao took students through many video clips that showcased the importance of life skills for growing minds. Life skills enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Practising life skills leads to qualities such as self esteem, sociability , competencies and capabilities to have the freedom to decide what to do and who to be.
Many group activities were also conducted to familiarize students with each other.




 

WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY

Eco club conducted a tobacco awareness program on 30th May 2014. On this occasion of WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY "SLOGAN WRITING AND POSTER MAKING COMPETITION" was conducted.
The event witnessed wonderful participation by students. Slogans and posters gave colorful depiction of ill effects of tobacco consumption.


World Environment Day


With much enthusiasm the college observed the World Environment Day on the UN theme "Raise Your Voice Not Sea Level".

During the assembly, the students of Eco club gave a glimpse of the importance of the day and highlighted the theme. The students were given an opportunity to exhibit their aesthetic skills through a collage competition on conservation.
