Alumni meet
On 7th February 2016, Alumni association had organized reunion with cricket tournament as part of the programme. In the tournament six teams had participated with league cum knock out system. The winners were the Team Psycho with captain Gajendra. The runners up were the Team Fantastic 6 with captain Goutham.
The entire event was managed by alumni association. Felicitation was organized in the afternoon in presence of Principal and association members. Principal madam addressed the gathering. Few staff members felicitated on this occasion were Mrs. Nirmala M. , Mr. Raju K.N. and also non teaching staff Mrs. Laxmi Devi. Felicitated staff members addressed the gathering. Few fun games were also arranged. The programme ended with the sumptuous lunch.

REPUBLIC DAY
Republic day was celebrated with great patriotic exuberance on 26th January 2016. The day began with the hoisting of tricolor by Principal madam Mrs. Sandhya Menezes. Mrs. Rama lecturer, Hindi department rendered patriotic song which instilled strong patriotism. Principal madam addressed the gathering and urged to embed peace, harmony and love in ourselves. End of the celebration special south Indian breakfast was served.

Farewell day
Carmel was all decked up to bid adieu to II PUC students on 16th January 2016.
The outgoing students embraced this occasion as a fashion plate with high-style outfits. The day began with the invocation song by Aishwarya and group. This was followed by laying down of office of student council
Principal madam addressed the gathering by sharing some of the best memories she enjoyed with this batch of students. Student advisor Mrs. Sujatha C.P. shared her experiences working with student council. Few students also shared their wonderful memories they adorned at Carmel. Administrator sir Mr. Roshan Menezes narrated inspiring stories to students. Lunch was served to students and teachers.

Annual Day
Fourteenth Annual day was celebrated with great zeal on 13th January 2016. Annual day also marks the birth anniversary celebration of Late Mr. Alexander Menezes, Founder Carmel Education Society. Chief guest for this annual day was Mr. Leo Lobo. Mr. Leo Lobo is a corporate trainer at NOVA counselling. Also he has worked as professor in St. Joseph’s PU college in Electronics department. The other dignitaries gracing the occasion were Academic director Mrs. Dorothy Menezes, Administrator sir Mr. Roshan Menezes, Principal Madam Mrs. Sandhya Menezes and Mrs. Florence Dsouza, Principal Carmel high school.
This significant day began with mesmerizing invocation dance by Sharan, dancing to the elegant flute music played by Sudarshan. This was followed by floral tribute to the founder.
Principal madam Mrs. Sandhya Menezes presented annual report of the academic year 2015-16. Annual Newsletter Carmel Inspiration was released by the dignitaries. Student council president Mr. Darshan addressed the gathering presenting the report of student council activities.
The most prominent part of the gathering was chief guest’s address. Mr. Leo Lobo urged the students to apply gained knowledge from any study to real time situations. He also narrated a story to emphasize how important it is to be yourself rather than aspiring to become somebody else.
Prize distribution ceremony was also the part of this August gathering to felicitate students who excelled in the field of academics, sports and also other conduct. Darshan was awarded best out going boy and Anu Shah was awarded best out going girl.
Mrs. Savitha coordinator PESSAT awarded scholarship to students towards their commitment to science.
Mr. Roshan Menezes Secretary Carmel Education Society congratulated all the winners and felicitated staff members who completed 10 years and five years of service at Carmel. The day concluded with the singing of National anthem.

Alexander memorial trophy 2015-2016
Alexander Cricket Tournament was held on 19th December 2015 in Carmel play ground.It was inaugurated by our Administrator Mr.Roshan Menezes accompanied by Prinicipal Mrs.Sandhya Menezes.The teams were managed by their respective team captains. Alexander Trophy was taken over by the Winners of II E and II B placed Runners up in this tournament. Prizes and Certificates were distributed by our Administrator and also prizes were given to the outstanding performers as

Christmas
Carmelites joyously welcomed Christmas, the festival of hope, love and sharing by setting a crib. The college came alive with the singing of some popular carols. The Friday assembly was also centered around the festive theme.
The management organized a special celebration for the teaching and non-teaching staff. Carol singing set the tempo for the festivities. Various competitions were organized and the winners were richly rewarded. A skit enacting the birth of the savior brought forth joyous memories.
A toast was raised to the forthcoming year and was hoped that it would be a harbinger of great joy to one and all.

ETHNIC DAY
ETHNIC DAY was celebrated on 2nd December 2015. This day decked up the whole of Carmel elegantly and also marked the occasion of Administrator sir Mr. Roshan Menezes's birthday.
Interested students that is around 125 students participated in the fashion walk. The judges for the day were Miss. Nilima Singh, Mr. Roshan Menezes and Mrs. Shwetha R.
In the first round students with best catwalk and best ethnic attire were selected. Following rounds were talent round and questionnaire round. The best of the lot with ultimate performance in talent round and questionnaire round were crowned Mr. Carmel and Miss Carmel.
Mr. Kevin Fernandes was crowned Mr. Carmel and Miss. Ameesha Patwa was crowned Miss. Carmel on the tremendous Ethnic Day 2015.

WORLD CHILDREN'S DAY
As a part of world children's day and also to create an awareness among students about the various laws framed to protect the rights of the children , United Nations Convention had advised the colleges to conduct an essay writing competition and debate . On the 23rd of November 2015 , an essay writing competition and debate was conducted in English . There was an overwhelming response from the students .

Sports Day
With the second term the college began buzzing with sports activities. Intra mural matches were conducted for carrom, chess, throw ball, volley ball, long jump and high jump. Students enthusiastically participated in all the sporting events. The activities culminated with the fourteenth annual sports meet on 21st November in Dr. Ambedkar stadium Basaveshwar nagar. Administrator sir Mr. Roshan Menezes inaugurated the sports meet and urged the students to actively participate in all sports as physical activity influences good health.
Discuss throw, javelin throw, shot put and various track and field events were conducted. The individual championship for boys was bagged by Venkat A of I A and for girls by Mrunalini of I C. The overall championship for boys was bagged by II E and for girls by II A. The combined overall championship was won by II E.

Food fest
Food in our own tradition is not all about nutrients and calories. It's about sharing. It's about modesty.
To acknowledge the above quote food fest was organized in our college for noble cause. It was a three day fest. Teachers, I PUC and II PUC students had organized fest to serve delicacies from different parts of world.
The funds collected were donated for a noble cause.

TEEN'S DAY
To commerate the birth anniversary of our former Prime minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru teen's day was celebrated on November 13th and November 14th. On November 13th assembly was all conducted by the staff members for students.
On November 14th many games like dodge ball, Queen of Sheba was organized by teachers for the students. Prizes were distributed to the winners. Students enjoyed and thanked teachers for making teen's day a memorable one.

Inspire Science Camp
INSPIRE, a science camp was organized from 26th October to 30th October 2015 by Department of Science and Technology, GOVT of India at Christ University, Hosur Road Bangalore . Ten felicitous students from our college were selected for this learning camp.
Participants actively involved themselves in lectures and practical sessions. Practical sessions housing DNA isolation, preparation of Ferro fluid, viscosity and chromatography and many more were performed. Field trips were also organized. Students also had an opportunity of interacting with many scientists from national and international repute. Career opportunities in pure science stream were acquainted to the students. Thus students from different colleges around Bangalore were all integrated by universal language called Science.

ElektroKwest
Electronics department completed 10 years in our college. To celebrate decennial year ElektroKwest an inter-collegiate quiz competition was organized on 7th November 2015 by Electronics department.
Chief guests invited for ElektroKwest were Electronics textbook committee chairman Mr. SudhakarHegde and member Mr. Shivshankar. Two praiseworthy ex students of Electronics department Mr. Arjun Bhat and Mr. Mohan Krishna were also invited to grace the occasion.
Quiz prelims was witnessed by 30 teams from different colleges of Bangalore. Six teams were selected for finale. Prize winners are as follows :

Kannada Rajyotsava
Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with great fervor at our college on 1st November 2015.
The day began with lightning of auspicious lamp by staff council. Speeches to kindle passion for our Kannada were rendered by our students and teachers. Quiz was organized by Kannada department for the audience. Sweets were distributed at the end of the program.

A SEMINAR ON BIG DATA
On 19th of September , a seminar had organized exclusively for Computer Science and Electronics students pertaining to the topic ' BIG DATA' . The key speaker was Mr. Hanumantha Rao Naronikar , Delivery Head , a leading MNC , Bengaluru .
The students participated enthusiastically in large number to know much about the new generation topic Big Data . The speaker delivered the valuable information of Big Data in a systematic way by presenting the clips and described that Big Data size is a constantly moving target , as of 2012 ranging from a few dozen terabytes to many petabytes of data . He explained very well the characteristics of Big Data popularly known as 4 V's.......Volume , Velocity , Variety and Veracity .
It was such a beneficial seminar that made clear about the use and adoption of Big Data within governmental processes which is beneficial and allows efficiencies in terms of cost , productivity and innovation .

WALKATHON
Samadhan Center for counseling and Life skills organized a walkathon on 6th September 2015 as part of its suicide prevention campaign. The campaign was also in association with International Association of Suicide Prevention and World Health Organisation.
Around thirty students of our community service actively participated in the walk, at a stretch from “Maharani Ammani College to Malleshwaram club “.
Certificates were awarded to the students those who participated in the walkathon.

TEACHERS DAY
Teachers day was celebrated with much jollification in Carmel family on 5th September. Celebration began with the invocation song by teachers. The gathering was welcomed by school principal Mrs. Florence D’souza. Management had organized fun games and sumptuous lunch was served.
Students celebrated teachers day on 7th September. Student council had attuned events for teachers. Fashion walk by the teachers was the most exciting one which both the students and teachers enjoyed. Overall teachers day celebration was sincere appreciation and gratitude from students.

"THE AMATEUR SCIENTIST" AT PES UNIVERSITY
Every experience makes a man wise. A visit to PES university on 22nd August 2015 was one such experience that gave students ideas on various project designs, the thinking that varies from person to person and the ever growing competition.
The whole day was occupied, and no time to waste. Soon after the inauguration by Mr. Narayana Murthy, mentor, Infosys, there was question- answer session with him. Students from all parts of India posed questions and got convincing answers from him. Mr. Murthy made sure boys and girls took turns in asking questions till the end. He emphasized on how we Indians lack self-discipline without which development of the country is impossible.
There were several stalls put up with mind boggling experiments that included all the fields of science such as physics, chemistry, biology, electronics, etc.. There was another interesting competition called 'celeritate' where self made remote controlled cars passed through several tracks keeping students on their feet, with excitement that filled the air. There was an air show where senior engineering students flew their indigenously built drones and kept the audience awestruck.
Finally students attended electronics workshop where they got to build a smart home module all by themselves under expert guidance.
The whole day was a fun filled day where every minute was spent in quality learning.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP
Carmel PU College Community Service Center in association with Lions Club Geetanjali had organized Blood donation camp on 12th September 2015. Volunteers of community service center had geared up fortnight before the camp to spread awareness of donating blood. The camp was organized in sports arena.
The inauguration of camp began with, invocation of God's blessings by Aishvarya of I A. Our beloved Principal Mrs. Sandhya Menezes welcomed the gathering. Administrator sir, Mr. Roshan Menezes was the first person to donate blood. Camp was a huge success and approximately 60 - 65 units of blood was collected. Refreshments and lunch was served to the donors.

Rendezvous
The inter collegiate talent fest Rendezvous 2015 took off to a colourful start on 29th August. The mega event began with dance performance unveiling the trophy. Various competitions like painting, logo design, rangoli and many more were organized in the various fields of art and culture. It received an overwhelming response from all the colleges.
It set the tone to a cultural extravaganza in the evening. The electrifying atmosphere ended with the valedictory programme which was presided over by Ms.Bhavya Gowda, cine actress and former Miss. Earth UK.
This year Mount Carmel College won the overall championship.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
69th Independence Day was celebrated by our Carmel family with great patriotic fervor. College and school together celebrated the occasion in sports arena.
The celebration began with the unfurling of tricolor by the chief guest, Mr. Manjunath V and singing of national anthem. This was followed with the march past by the students.
This celebration was welcomed by school principal Dr. Florence D'souza. The zeal with which Dr. Florence D'souza delivered her welcome speech enkindled patriotic vehemence.
Little toddlers, singing and performing for the patriotic songs filled the air with brilliant patriotism. Our college student Sharan of I PUC from commerce department enthralled the audience with remarkable dance performance for the patriotic songs.
The most impressive part of the celebration was the chief guest's address to the audience.
Mr. Manjunath V, Vice President of RTP Controls , is an ex Carmelite. In his address he quoted the great work devoted by Dr. C.V.Raman, Dr. C.N.R. Rao, Sir M. Vishweshwaraiah, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He mentioned that these are the Indians who have given their fullest to India. He also advised students not to forget their ground that is their motherland after they graduate. Take serving your country as your primary duty. Mr. Manjunath recollected the quote stressed by his teacher in school that "Mother, motherland is much more important than the paradise above the clouds in sky".
He advised three important deeds to students and they are, importance of time, making use of opportunities available in school and importance of quality of work that they furnish.
The celebration ended with the vote of thanks by school staff member.

AERODYNAMICS WORKSHOP
The students are always fascinated by the wonderful world of aviation. Keeping that in mind, Mr.Shahbaz and his team from RV College of Engineering conducted a workshop on aerodynamics on 25th July 2015 . They explained the features and importance of aerodynamics in the field of aeronautics . It was held in a very interesting way by conducting various experiments on fundamental concepts of physics related to aviation and finally the quiz was also conducted. The top 6 students of quiz got a chance to play “Flight simulator” video game.
Students had the chance to investigate cause of various air crashes based on the knowledge gained in the session .The team also gave the information on fighter planes like Sukhoi used by army , military and also on quad copter.

FEAST OF LADY MOUNT CARMEL
On the occasion of feast of Lady Mount Carmel, The management of Carmel Education Society had organized trip for college and school staff members on 17th July. It was a two day excursion to Coorg.
Carmel feast is actually an occasion of reunion of Carmel family.
Mass was organized on 18TH July in Kushalnagar. Campfire was the greatest of all the fun the staff members had in the trip. Singing and dancing around the fire gave rejuvenating smile across everybody’s face.
Omkareshwara temple , Tibetan Monastry, Dubbare elephant camp and Raja seat were the places visited by the Carmel family in this astounding trip.

Malhar 2015
Malhar - shower of talents , an inter class competition was held on 4th of July 2015 . Chief guest for the occasion was Mr. Deepak Punam ,President of Carmel PU Alumni Association . The I PUC and the II PUC students displayed varied talents and kept the audience esmerized .

INVESTITURE CEREMONY
Carmel College held Investiture ceremony on June 27th 2015 with great enthusiasm. The investiture ceremony marked a significant beginning for the new student council.
Administrator Mr. Roshan Menezes, Principal Mrs. Sandhya Menezes, Academic Director Carmel High School Mrs. Dorothy Menezes, Carmel HighSchool Prinicipal Mrs. Florence D’souza and distinguished Chief Guest Mr. Deepak Justin were the dignitaries on the dais.
This was followed by welcome address by Principal. Administrator Mr. Roshan Menezes invited members of student council to take an oath of office. Student advisor Mrs. Sujatha C.P. assisted Chief Guest to induct newly elected members of student council with sashes and badges.
Darshan N is elected as President, Abhay Sharma as Vice President and Kushal R as Secretary of student council. Eva D Saglani and Charanjith Singh are elected as Sports Secretaries. Sophia Deena Pramodini and Hitesh S are elected as cultural secretaries.
Prize distribution ceremony was organized to accolade toppers of II PUC and I PUC. Accolades were presented to subject toppers also.
Chief Guest Mr. Deepak Justin with his amazing oratory skills kept the audience spell bound. Mr. Deepak Justin, corporate trainer, toastmaster, motivated student council members to become servant leaders. He also motivated students by narrating some real time stories.
The program concluded with vote of thanks by student advisor.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
World Environment day is celebrated every year on 5th June.
At Carmel, Environment Day was celebrated with great endeavor. The theme chosen this year in our college is “SAVE WATER, SAVE ELECTRICITY”. Principal addressed students to actively involve themselves in aspiring the theme.
Environment day celebration also marked the first assembly for I PUC students. Eco club was introduced to I PUC students. Eco club members presented speeches highlighting different practices to protect our mother earth. Community service was also introduced to I PUC students on this occasion.

STAFF ORIENTATION
Staff orientation programme was organized by Carmel management on 21st May 2015. The art of wise mentoring was the notion of the orientation.
Swami Sukhbhodananda was invited to address teachers. Swamiji began his talk by interacting with teachers about what actually is education. Education is bringing forth i.e. not just dump students with information, but rather motivate them to think and apply. Swamiji also advised teachers to advice students to respond not react when put to any situation.
Do not reject the past or future. Also do not live only in the past or future. Learn from the past, enjoy the present and plan for the future. Be present in the past and thereby learn from the past, be present in the future, thereby plan for the future. Being alive in the present, you will enjoy the present. Every moment is the best moment.
Vision, power, speed, skill and strategies are the fundamentals to optimize any moment. The whole session was very insightful and effective indeed.

STUDENT ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
An orientation programme was organized for the I PUC students on June 11th 2015. Mrs. Sandhya Menezes, the Principal extended a very warm welcome and Mr. Roshan Menezes , Secretary, Carmel Education Society briefed the students on the general code of conduct to be adhered to and urged the students to make use of all of the opportunities and facilities available in the institution to become a better individual and outstanding students.
Mr. Ajit Kaikeni, of Buoyancee, was the facilitator of the day. He inspired the students to rise from being mediocre and reach great heights. Mr. Kashyap, also of Buoyancee, urged the students to find pleasure in whatever they did. Ms. Poojashree a I PUC student proposed the vote of thanks.

PARENT'S ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
Parents’ orientation program was conducted by Dr. Ali Kwaja on 14th June 2015, columnist for the popular newspaper Deccan Herald. With his 40 years of experience in behavioural sciences, he addressed common situations that arise at home with children guided parents to handle them well.
He stressed the importance of open minded communication with children, being truthful always, empathizing and sympathizing at times needed. He urged parents to encourage their child to pursue his/her interest and be consistent with the child in helping him/her out.

World No Tobacco day
World No Tobacco day is celebrated every year on May 31st . It is celebrated intending to aware and encourage people to reduce or completely stop the tobacco consumption in any form all across the globe. The day celebration aims to draw public attention globally to spread the message of harmful effects of tobacco use as well as its complications.
On this occasion of World No Tobacco Day Eco club had organized poster making competition for students. Students participated in the poster making competition-showcasing their talents and creativity mostly highlighting the ill effects of tobacco consumption on health.
