History

Founder of Carmel Pre-University CollegeCarmel Education Society (R) was established in the year 1968. Mrs. Dorothy Menezes and (Late) Mr. Alexander Menezes was a great visionary who had the sole intention of providing the best of education and best of infrastructure to the ever growing needs of the students. Carmel High School has grown in leaps and bounds, having as its alumni several distinguished personalities of national and international repute.


Carmel Pre-University College, established in the year 2002, under the aegis of Carmel Educational Society (R) caters to students in the field of Science and Commerce. The Pre-University College was initiated with a view of catering to the overwhelming need for good college education in these competitive days. Carmel High School, established in 1968, has been providing education from the Kindergarten level to the Std. X in the ICSE stream, and now due to the increased demand for the Pre-University course, the Carmel Pre-University College came into existence.


The college is given the name Carmel Pre-University College in the name of our patroness, Our Lady of Mount Carmel.


People who shaped Carmel Pre-University College


Smt. Dorothy Menezes, the Founder Principal of Carmel High School is an exuberant visionary. It is the courage and the vision of Mrs. Menezes that has taken the Carmel Institution to soaring heights.


Mr. Roshan Menezes, Secretary – Carmel Education Society (R), is a person with a mission who combines brilliant scientific temper with humour. Carmel Education Society has seen a period of expansion and a steady growth. Under his stewardship the society acquired its present site for the college very close to the premises of Carmel High School.


Mrs. Sandhya Menezes, Principal of Carmel Pre-University College is a person who believes that the future of our society depends on the youth of today. And in striving to make this belief a reality, she perseveres to motivate the students in her care, sensitizing them on the more humane aspect of life, combining effectively academics with development of personality.


Carmel Pre-University College, ever since its inception in the year 2002, under her leadership has developed an atmosphere of comradeship among the students, staff, management and parents of the students. The college has seen a steady improvement in both curricular and co-curricular activities.


The college under the guidance of Mrs. Sandhya Menezes and Mr. Roshan Menezes keeps pace with the changing times exploring new possibilities and expanding horizons.
